In addition to receiving a Business Champion Award, Credit Suisse also was named Business Champion of the Year during the March 27 event, which was hosted by Business Leader magazine and Wake Technical Community College at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cary.
The company, one of the world's leading banks and part of the Business Technologies sector of the awards, established a major financial-services operation at its Global Business Center in the Wake County section of Research Triangle Park (RTP) in May 2005 and has increased its employee base from 260 in 2006 to approximately 680 in 2007. The company researched more than 300 cities when considering relocation, and chose RTP for its quality of life, schools and strong workforce.
Since its relocation, the company has worked extensively with area and regional partnership workforce-development boards to hire and train 125 adult and dislocated worker participants enrolled in on-the-job training contracts. It also has formed partnerships with Wake Technical Community College's occupational skills training programs, as well as Triangle-area workforce boards and the JobLink System, and recently received the N.C. Employment Security Commission's Chairman's Corporate Award for workforce development.
Jim Captain, director of operations for the RTP facility and a member of the search committee and deployment team, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
